Monoprinting

Monoprinting is a simple process and it utilizes simple tools:  water-based printer’s ink, a soft rubber brayer  and a plexiglass plate.  From there the exploration begins.  How many ways can a mark be made using these tools?  ...and other things you may find and bring to the table - a leaf, a bit of lace, a piece of plastic film or a paper to cut a template, a marking tool, a splash of water... the potential and possibilities are limitless and infinitely intriguing.

No two prints can ever be alike - thus the name, monoprinting.  Each print is unique.  “Ghosts” play an important role, as we seek to capture images left on the plate.  There are no

“rules”.  Once a print is pulled, you are encouraged to “read” it, and continue to work on it, depending on what the print itself calls for.

Karen and Cayen each bring over 30 years of experience in monoprinting to workshops and are enthusiastic about their own work and about the work of the participants.  Emphasis is on the process and what is learned from that process.

This workshop opens up the creative spirit.  No art experience required.  Challenging to even  the most experienced artists.
